Your First Day! The student arrives at school and is ushered to the correct classroom, directed to the student’s desk and sits down. The student is ready to begin the first class, of their first day, at school. The teacher is at the front of the classroom and is preparing to address the delta between the Student’s current knowledge and the desired knowledge the syllabus requires. What is the Edge? Edge computing, Edge AI, Edge networking and more are symptomatic of the industry pivoting heavily into demanding new workloads, while having few spare resources to address technical debt. The challenges facing the industry are myriad and increasing when one considers new developments, like the fallout of RAMageddon on hardware availability. Addressing a challenge always starts with defining the problem space. Definition complexity increases when there are multiple perspectives using multiple names for the same overarching concept. Alternative ELI5 for Kubernetes As of late I have been studying for the Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) certification. I’ve been using the excellent KodeKloud CKA course (see below for links!) and I found their ship analogy to be a strong way to simplify the Kubernetes architecture & components.
